Miscommunication

June 24, 2008

If you have a kid with an ex, the day will come when wires get crossed and communications get missed. Although it’s easy to get one’s feathers all ruffled, as long as everything works out… let it go and laugh about it, because odds are that in hindsight, it’s actually funny.

Today, Kate’s mom left the country on a one week vacation. I knew she would be leaving sometime between today and two days from now, but never got the final confirmation of the dates… To my surprise… today was the day. Thank God for Facebook, saw a wall post she left on a friend’s wall and that’s how I figured out she had left. Now, she might very well have sent me an email with the details, but it just so happens that my mail server went down a few days ago and took quite a few emails with it… timing has never been good to me :-)

A bit of running around after work and it all got sorted out. No harm, now foul.

The little robot that twitters!!!

June 22, 2008

Thanks to ScotchNeat.ca I am now following a little robot on Mars (better known as Phoenix). And I just found out that we found WATER ICE on Mars. How cool is that?!?!?!

You can follow Phoenix on twitter too: http://twitter.com/MarsPhoenix

“Meet Vampire Guys”

June 19, 2008

Got an email from Maria today asking how the dog and Kate are doing. Nothing special or out of the ordinary there. One of the Google sponsored links on the right of that email…. “Meet Vampire Guys”. You can’t make this stuff up :-)

Fraud Alert

June 17, 2008

Today I got a call from my credit card company informing me that they’ve detected what seemed to be fraudulent activity on my credit card. Funny thing is, it wasn’t my numerous online purchases that set off the alarm bells, it was my repeated visits to Home Depot over the weekend that did it.

Has it come to this??? That using my credit card in person in the real world, as opposed to my many “shady” online buys, that sets off the fraud cops?

Best Father’s Day gift EVER

June 17, 2008

Yesterday was Father’s Day (happy belayed Father’s Day to all the Dads out there). Kate made me breakfast in bed which consisted of a bowl of Cherios with a 1/4 of All Bran (she knows what I like). I also got a beautiful card and a little clay figurine of her (she made both).

But the best gift came in the form of hand made door knob hanger. It’s “do not disturb” sign so that Daddy can sleep in on weekends :-) How cool is that?!?!

A social camera

June 17, 2008

I was catching up on my RSS feed and came across this post by Fred Wilson (love his blog). It got me thinking. Why don’t, say… Canon and Flickr get together and put out a camera that will allow me to post my picture to my flickr account with the push or a button? I’d buy that.

Oh and what if through the use of a fancy touch screen display, the camera would allow me to tag my pictures as soon as I take them? I’d buy that too.

Because we just don’t have enough stuff that Interweb enabled

Going Green - Hydro update

June 14, 2008

HA!!! got a call from Hydro last week… they wanted to know if everything was ok. Turns out my electricity consumption is down by about 67% of what it was last year.

Making progress :-)

Mobile Weekend is back on track

May 15, 2008

Now that I’ve been in town for over a week, I’ve finally had the time to start working on Mobile Weekend again. The tickets have been updated and are up and ready to go. We’ve also changed the format a bit. One idea for the weekend, but we’ll be building the application on multiple platforms.

Check out Mobile Weekend for all the details.
